A pork chop, mashed potatoes, cauliflower

The pork chop of the Thursday-that-became-a-Thursday-dinner. I’d made the drinks, the cake was cooling under a towel on the counter, and this was the middle act - pork chop seared properly and finished in the oven, mashed potatoes with a pool of warm cream sauce right on top, roasted cauliflower I’d let get darker than the recipe would have liked. My husband said this feels like a restaurant and I was, like, correct.

A round plate with a pork chop under a peppery crust, a tall mound of mashed potatoes crowned with a small pool of cream sauce, and a pile of roasted cauliflower florets, parsley scattered over everything.
