Thursday. I’d decided earlier in the day to make something nicer for dinner - not a dinner-party dinner, just a let’s set the table dinner - and I started it with drinks. Two of them, sunset-colored, a half-moon of orange on each rim, on a pale marble tray with a bush of eucalyptus behind them for good measure. Clinked over the board before anything else went on the stove.
